Dave and Sophia went to a father/child mini golf tournament today with Youth Group. And they won!! :) The little guys and I went to CVS before heading home from church. I don't often go to this CVS but I haven't ever had problems at this store, I prefer it over the one closest to me. I bought all of this on one transaction, I'd LOVE to see a $/$$ coupon but my mom seems to get them all, not me!! :P

Harvest Picnic

Our annual Harvest Picnic at church was Friday... the kids had a blast, as always! There are carnival type games set up for the kids to play and win tickets. Each ticket can be redeemed for a piece of candy. There was also face painting, cotton candy, and each kid got to decorate their own bag to fill with all the candy they won! One of the games was a ring toss game where the goal is to ring an old glass bottle. Instead of winning a ticket to redeem for candy, you win a can of soda. We don't drink soda, and we don't let our kids drink soda (except for very rare occasions) but we came home with 18 cans! We put them in our garage fridge for when people who drink soda come to visit. There was also a candy guessing contest and I guessed the correct number and won a jar full of Hershey's miniatures and kisses (171 pieces to be exact!)! This will last us until next Harvest picnic... hehe!

Boys Camping Trip
My husband took the boys on a father/son camping trip with a group of men from our church this past weekend. Dave said the boys were real troopers on the hike (that he guesstimates at 3 miles) on rough terrain to look at waterfalls. There were some issues with food, which was expected due to the boys' allergies. I was impressed with Dave that he didn't eat in front of the boys, he waited with them while everyone else ate, and then enjoyed pb&j sandwiches with his sons back at the cabin. Those little things make me love him so much! (The last picture is Roman on the last leg of the hike!)
CVS Trip
I ran to CVS last night... I had Isabella with me and she wanted Tic Tacs. I only had $4 in ECBs, I'm not sure how that happened, but that's all I had!

Allergies
Focusing just on red dye... When Sam was a baby, when I ate red dye and then nursed him, he projectile vomited (this took a lot of time and patience and food diary entries to figure out). When he was 15 months old, I gave him a lollipop for the first time, and he projectile vomited. He didn't have much, if any, red dye between then and 2, and somewhere in that time, it changed to a neurological reaction. I gave him a lollipop one day and he didn't vomit and I thought "oh, he outgrew it!" I gave him a dum dum several times in a week and realized looking back that it made him *really aggressive and uncontrollable. Dave and my parents didn't believe me so I would try it every so often just to *prove I was right (yeah, that's stupid looking back on it!). Sometime over this summer, I realized that he reacts to yellow and blue dye as well and the reaction is more severe than I remember his reaction to red dye being. Roman got tylenol for the first time at 4 months old and he broke out in hives all over his body. When he was almost 2, someone gave him a big sugar cookie covered in red icing and he broke out in hives as well. Now neither boy gets any kind of artificial dye. I assume (perhaps wrongly) that Roman's hives, like Sam's projectile vomiting, will go away and for a more severe reaction to occur. That's why Roman doesn't get any dyes, although technically he has only ever shown a sensitivity to red dye.

We spent the whole day out yesterday just to spend lots of time with Dave before he left this am... We took the kids mini golfing for the first time!! Sophia has been to Par 3 several times but somehow never mini golfing!!! They all had a great time. I didn't pay for myself because I thought for sure at least Roman if not Roman and Bella would be bored with it by the 4th or 5th hole (18 holes altogether)... but they all absolutely loved it and played with as much excitement on the 18th hole as the 1st!!! Dave won, Sophia and Roman tied for second, then Bella, and Sam. Roman got TWO holes in one - all by himself!! Then we had ice cream afterwards, the boys had chips. :)
